Bursary Opportunities for Conference Participants from the Global South

As part of the International Year of Evaluation –  EvalYear  -, the Conference Organizing Committee and the Canadian Evaluation Society are encouraging evaluators from all over the world to join us in Montreal!

Of particular interest to the Society is the participation of evaluators living and practicing in the Global South. To support their participation, CES,  its provincial chapters and NCC are offering up to eight bursaries for evaluators residing in these countries.

Eligible for bursaries are:

  • evaluators who reside in one of the countries of the Global South (defined as medium or lower Human Development Index, United Nations 2014 Human Development Report, Table 1, p. 160), and
  • who have had a submission to the CES 2015 Conference accepted by the Scientific Review Committee, and
  • have never attended CES National Conference prior to Montreal 2015.

Each successful evaluator from the Global South will be awarded $1,000 CDN for partial reimbursement of their travel costs. As well, the conference registration fee of $650 CDN will be waived for the successful individuals.

Selection of bursary awardees will be made by the Conference Scientific Committee, and awardees will be notified at the time of the submission acceptance in early February 2015. The disbursement will be made upon arrival at the conference in Montreal. All successful individuals are encouraged to use this award in the search for other sources of funding.

See the CES National Web site to learn how to apply for the bursary. The application deadline is January 31, 2015.  If you have questions, please contact the CES Secretariat (secretariat@evaluationcanada.ca)

We look forward to seeing you in Montreal!
